The overall aim of the study is to better understand if the individual differences of gender, culture and parental influence, can affect the way students' self-talk/approach academic stress and if so, how significant they are. We hope to understand how these affect their mental health/wellbeing.

Attend a 40-minute face-to-face session on the Queen Mary university campus (or a ‘Microsoft Teams’ meeting, depending on your availability)
Answer questions related to your demographics (e.g. age, gender)
Answer questionnaires relative to parental influence and self-talk
Answer a series of open and closed questions about self-talk and academia
If you chose to take part in this study, you will be invited to attend a 40 minute face-to-face session on the Queen Mary university campus/Online via Microsoft Teams.
You will receive a participation information and informed consent form that explains the entirety of the study, and will be asked to provide consent if you agree to the terms.
Following this, you will be asked a series of questions to gain some demographics (e.g. age)
You will then be asked to complete two standardised measures questionnaires to gain a better understanding of your parental influence and your self-talk.
Finally, you will answer open and closed questions relative to self-talk and academia to gain information on the content of your self-talk and how you apply this to educational stressors.
NOTE: As the study is exploring gender, culture, and parental influence, some of the questions could be considered to be of a sensitive nature. However, you have the option to skip any of the questions, or withdraw your participation at any point during the study, without providing a reason.
